Understand the safety protocol before hair transplant
Unhealthy lifestyle, increasing pollution and lack of nutrition have increased the problem of hair fall and baldness among youth aged 25-40 years. According to a report by AIIMS, every year about 60 lakh people in the country complain of hair fall. The pressure of 'perfect look' on social media dominates among the youth. Recently many people have lost their lives due to hair transplant. In such a situation, caution is very important and you can also consider Ayurvedic options...
How is hair transplant done?
This is a surgical procedure, in which healthy hair roots (follicles) are removed from one part of the head (donor area) and transplanted to the bald or thin hair part (recipient area). In Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) technique, a strip of skin is removed from the back of the head, while in Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), hair roots are removed one by one.
How dangerous is it?
According to a study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Surgery in 2025, the rate of negative cases in hair transplant may be 4.7 percent, but in some cases it can be serious and life-threatening. In this study, data of 2,896 patients was studied, in which it was found that some patients had problems like serious infection, allergic reaction and sepsis (blood infection) after surgery.

Keep these things in mind before transplant
If some important things are taken care of during surgery, then post-surgery infection or other types of complications can be avoided, know these important things...
1. Whenever you go for a hair transplant, meet a plastic surgeon or a trained surgeon only, do not take a decision after meeting a technician or counselor.
2. The plastic surgeon or hair transplant surgeon should be working there full time, not just part time.
3. In hair transplant surgery, anesthetist doctor should be present during anesthesia.
4. In case of emergency, there should be anesthesia machine, hospital facility or connection with a big hospital nearby.
5. There should be good sterilization facility. There should be a good sterilized OT (operation theater) separately.
6. After the operation, your communication and conversation should be directly with the plastic surgeon (operating surgeon). There should be no staff or counselor in between, because the surgeon immediately identifies the problem.
7. Complications in surgery can happen to anyone, but if you remain alert and do not get caught in the trap of social media and cheapness, then these complications can be reduced.
Take care of these after transplant
■Sleep straight for a few days (4-5) after surgery. Do not sleep on your side.
■Stay in the same city where the surgery was done for 2-3 days after surgery. Get the first bandage removed by visiting the clinic.
■Spray normal saline only on the hair.
■Wear a surgical cap while going out. Wear a helmet or normal cap after 10-15 days.
■While washing hair, use only shampoo water or clean water, do not touch the hair.
■No fly or mosquito should sit on the transplant site.
■Do not swim for 2 weeks after surgery.
For whom is transplant dangerous?
■The process of wound healing is slow in diabetic patients, due to which the risk of infection increases after surgery.
■People suffering from heart disease should also get hair transplant done with caution and under the supervision of a cardiologist. Actually, anesthesia and antibiotics given during transplant can cause allergy. This reaction can take the form of anaphylaxis (life-threatening allergy), which can cause problems like difficulty in breathing and high blood pressure. In such a case, get the procedure done only after getting an allergy test done.
■Hair transplant may fail for people who have diseases like active cicatricial alopecia in the scalp such as lichen plano pilaris or alopecia areata. People with weak immune systems may also have problems.
Ayurvedic treatments are also effective for hair strength
According to Ayurveda, hair fall is related to our digestive system, mental stress, hormonal imbalance and blood purity. Therefore, this problem can be solved not only by treating the head, but also by bringing balance within the body.
1. Triphala: Triphala (Amla Harad, Baheda) strengthens the digestive system. It strengthens the roots of the hair. It is beneficial to take it with lukewarm water every night.
2. Ashwagandha: Mental stress is a major cause of hair fall. Ashwagandha helps to fight stress. It balances hormones.
3. Bhringraj and Amla oil: Massaging the head with Bhringraj or Amla oil 2-3 times a week increases blood circulation and improves hair growth.
4. Nasya Kriya: Nasya is an Ayurvedic process in which medicinal oil is poured into the nose. It provides nutrition to the head, brain and hair.
5. Diet and routine: Satvik diet is also necessary for healthy hair. Also do Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari and meditation for 15-20 minutes daily. It can also be beneficial to take Panchkarma and Rasayan and Urjaskar therapy at least three times a year under the supervision of a doctor.
