What is liver tumor?

Any lump in the liver is called a tumor. There are two types of these.

1. Benign tumor: Non-cancerous tumors are called benign tumors. These tumors show symptoms only when they grow large, such as abdominal pain, other symptoms may occur due to pressure in the blood or bile ducts.

2. Cancerous tumor: This tumor is called cancerous or malignant. Cancerous liver tumors are very deadly. They either originate in the liver itself or spread from other parts of the body to the liver. This is called metastatic liver cancer. This is the fourth stage of cancer. The main cancer that occurs in the liver is hepatocellular cancer, which occurs in people who have cirrhosis or chronic hepatitis B or C. Symptoms include loss of appetite, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, pain in the upper abdomen, jaundice, swelling or water in the abdomen.

When symptoms appear, get these tests done

To check liver hepatocellular cancer, liver function test is done first. It involves special blood tests, which evaluate the functionality of the liver. After this, abdominal ultrasound is done. Even then, if it is not detected properly, then CT scan is done in which clear images of the inner layers of the body are obtained.

How to prevent:

To prevent liver cancer and liver related diseases, it is important to keep weight and sugar under control. 50-60% of sugar patients are at risk of liver disease. Avoid addiction. Get vaccinated against hepatitis B. Vaccine protects against it. If the disease is detected in the early stages, then treatment is possible only with surgery. In case of severe liver cancer, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery etc. are also used for treatment. Liver tumor is not incurable, it can be treated with timely and proper medical treatment.
