Negligence in makeup can prove costly
Nowadays makeup is not only a means of enhancing your beauty but it has also become a part of your confidence and personality. Especially young girls are so enthusiastic about makeup that they leave no stone unturned in trying new products and following trends. But have you ever thought that some wrong makeup habits can harm your skin?
Using the same brush and sponge for months
1. If makeup brushes and sponges are not kept clean, then the chances of bacterial, fungal and viral infections increase. Brushes are made of natural and synthetic fibers which absorb moisture.
2. Makeup brushes are usually shared which increases the chances of infection present on the skin of one person to another. These can also cause infections like impetigo, ringworm, molluscum contagiosum warts
3. Brushes also catch dust, which traps bacterial, fungal, spores and viral particles present in the environment. If they are kept in a moist place or not covered properly, the risk of infection increases.
Harmful for eyes too
Conjunctivitis, irritation and abrasion can also occur in the eyes due to eye brushes and mascara brushes. Expired cosmetics can cause skin damage. These products convert into irritating substances which cause contact dermatitis as well as irritation and inflammation.
Preservatives in expired products are also not effective, which can increase the growth of micro organisms and increase the chances of infection. Changes in the colour, texture and smell of the product indicate bad products.
Danger from testers used in makeup stores
The testers used in shops are used on many people at the same time, which increases the risk of infection. Therefore, it should always be ensured that the testers are not being used by directly touching the skin. They should be used separately on a palette and disposable brushes and wands should be used for lipstick testing.
Prevention is possible only through cleanliness and caution
- Makeup tools should be washed once a week.
- Brush sponges should be changed within three to six months.
- Never share someone else's makeup.
