Method


1. What to use in place of plastic pots?

■Clay pots give coolness to the plants and are eco-friendly. Use old pots and pitchers

■Coconut shell is suitable for small plants

■Bamboo basket Use cloth or coconut fiber as a pot by spreading it

■Jute grow bags These are lightweight. A great option for hives or railings. Plants can be easily grown even in old jeans or pants.


2. Which fertilizer is right?

■Kitchen waste compost: Prepare compost from vegetable peels like potato, onion, banana peels, tea leaves, leftover pieces of fruits, dry leaves etc.

■Neem and mustard cake: Mix in the soil, plants will get nutrition.

■Organic spray: Boil neem, garlic and ginger in water and filter it. This will keep pests away.

3. Mulching option

■Instead of plastic pipe, bury clay kulhar, jug or bottle in the soil and give water slowly.

■Instead of mulching plastic sheet, spread dry grass, leaves or wood bark, so that moisture is maintained and weeds do not grow.
