Hypertension can be prevented by making some changes in the lifestyle, as well as by adopting a healthy lifestyle, the medicines taken for hypertension can be stopped or their quantity can be reduced. Some easy measures by which blood pressure can be easily controlled are as follows

1. Generally, blood pressure increases due to increase in body weight. Being overweight causes obstruction in breathing while sleeping, which is also called insomnia, this is also a major reason for increasing blood pressure. Blood pressure can be controlled by reducing body weight. Also, the risk of increasing blood pressure increases due to accumulation of excess fat on the waist.

2. Smoking increases blood pressure. Blood pressure can also be reduced by stopping smoking immediately.

3. Long-term mental depression is also a major cause of high blood pressure. Do yoga daily to avoid depression. Increase interest in sports and entertainment.

4. Regular physical activity for 30-45 minutes can reduce blood pressure by 4-9 mmhg. Activities like brisk walking, jogging, cycling, swimming are effective in preventing hypertension.

5. Healthy diet which contains whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and less fatty food. Such a diet can reduce blood pressure by about 14 mmhg.

6. By controlling the amount of salt in the diet, BP can be reduced by 2-8 mmhg. Normally, less than 3 grams of salt should be consumed per day and patients with high BP should consume less than 2 grams of salt.

7. Keep measuring your blood pressure regularly at home and if the blood pressure does not reduce despite the above lifestyle changes, then consult your doctor on time and take the prescribed medicines. Do not increase or decrease the amount of medicine on your own. This can be serious.
