Temperament (*Mizaj*) is a state of balance within the body, formed by the interplay of four primary qualities: heat, cold, moisture, and dryness.
There Are Four Types of Temperaments:
1. Damvi (Sanguine): People with this temperament possess a warm and moist constitution. They tend to be cheerful, optimistic, and energetic.
2. Balghami (Phlegmatic): Their dominant qualities are cold and moist. They are generally calm and composed, though they tend to have a predisposition toward weight gain.
3. Safravi (Choleric): Their dominant qualities are warm and dry. They typically possess a lean physique, sharp facial features, and an ambitious nature.
4. Saudavi (Melancholic): Their dominant qualities are cold and dry. They tend to be prone to anxiety or excessive overthinking. Their skin also tends to be dry.
Dietary Recommendations Based on Temperament
1. Damvi:
- Focus on consuming foods that are cooling and drying in nature.
- During the summer, consume barley water, pomegranates, yogurt, and watermelon.
- During the winter, consume citrus fruits, leafy vegetables, and light soups.
- During the spring season, opt for light and easily digestible meals.
2. Safravi:
- Consume foods that are cooling and moist in nature.
- During the summer, consume *Shikanji* (lemonade), coconut water, milk, and gourds (such as bottle gourd or ridge gourd).
- During the winter, consume apples, pears, and dairy products in moderate quantities.
- During the autumn season, increase your intake of fluids and utilize almond oil.
3. Balghami:
- Consume a warm and drying diet to help reduce excess *Kapha* (phlegm) and to boost metabolism.
- During the summer, consume cinnamon, cloves, and honey. During winter, consume black pepper, ginger, garlic, and dry fruits.
- In autumn, eating roasted chickpeas, bitter vegetables, and fenugreek is beneficial.
4. Saudavi:
- To provide warmth and lubrication to the body, consume a warm and moist diet. During summer, consume grapes, mangoes (in moderation), and fresh milk.
- In winter, eat egg yolks, dates, and similar items.
