What does Google know about you?
Every time you search for something on Google, watch a video or use Google Maps, this information is saved in your Google account. This includes your search history. Such as what you searched for, when you searched and which links you clicked on. Also, it includes location data, i.e. where you went, when you went and how long you stayed. Apart from this, the advertisement data saves the advertisements you saw and the profiles created based on your interests. If you watch YouTube videos, Google also saves which videos you watched and for how long. This data helps Google understand preferences and provide personalized experiences, such as recommending favorite restaurants. If this data falls into the wrong hands, it can become a threat to privacy.
How to see your Google data?
Google provides a tool to view data, which is called Dashboard. Log in by going to myaccount.google.com. Here you can see the history of searches, videos watched and other activities in My Activity. Here you can download a backup of data from Google Takeout. Under Privacy Checkup, you can check the privacy settings and decide what Google should track.
How to delete your data?
For this, you can delete the activities of a particular day or time by going to My Activity. You can set Google data to be automatically deleted after 3, 18, or 36 months. Google's 'Results About You' tool allows you to request that personal information about you, such as your address or phone number, be removed from search results. This tool is especially useful if you want to minimize your online presence.
