Plan before switching careers
Moving from one field to another in a career does not make your past experiences useless. Change is a part of your career journey where you learn new skills and implement them. This change is exciting and also gives rise to some apprehensions. It is not right to think that your past experience will become irrelevant. You can make the most of your experience.

Method
Audit skills
Be confident. Honestly assess the experience you have gained from your previous career. Your specialties like manpower management, budgeting, writing skills, communication etc. will contribute to your new career.
Highlight skills
Include all your work experiences so far in your resume, but highlight only those that are relevant in the new career. For example, if you are from HR and planning to move to digital marketing, then emphasize on experience in communication, content writing or event planning.
Use networking
Contact previous colleagues, friends without hesitation. Tell them that you are considering a job change. Talking to many people will let you know about many opportunities.
Move strategically
A new degree is not required to change jobs. Online certifications, workshops or working in a new business can increase your credibility. Those who want success in change move forward by taking calculated risks. Be it an interview or an informal conversation, do not see change as a risk. The experience of how you developed your skills in the previous field will be useful in the new field.
