 How To Calculate Percentage

Whenever you go out shopping or do online shopping, many times you get some discount. Like you have 50% or 25% discount on the purchase of any item.

So how do you know how many grandmasters you have in savings? Apart from this, if a child has to know the percentage of marks obtained in the examination or if the percentage is known, then the total obtained marks should be known.

You can get all the participants in it using the percentage formula. All you have to do is divide the percentage you got by 100. And then it has to be multiplied with the total mind.

Things You Will Need

  •  a little brain
  •  a calculator if you have one

Method

Suppose you get a discount of 60% on the purchase of an item during shopping. And the total cost of that item is Rs.11000. Now how will you know how much you will get that item with 60% discount on the total amount?

So the simple solution to this problem of yours is to find out its percentage and subtract it from the total amount. You will know the value of that item.

Think of it like this –
Total cost of goods – Rs.11000
Discount percentage – 60 % percentage
Applying the percentage formula, we can calculate it like this – 60 / 100 x 11000 = 6600
So we will get a saving of Rs.6600 as a discount of 60% on the total cost of the goods which is Rs.11000.
Now you have to pay instead of 11000 – 11000 – 6600 = Rs 4400
It means you have to pay only Rs.4400 instead of Rs.11000.

You can calculate percentage of any number anytime and anywhere with the help of your mobile phone. For this, you can use the calculator already present in your phone.

First of all open the calculator app on your phone.
First of all, when the calculator is open, you have to type the number whose percentage is to be calculated. Means the total value.
Now you have to click on the percentage sign (%) appearing above the calculator.
Then type in the percentage of the total value you want to subtract (eg 25 percent).
Finally click on the '=' sign.

What is the formula to calculate percentage?

Percentage = (value ⁄ total value) × 100

How to find 10% of 100?
If you want to know 10% part/part of any item or value, then you have to use this formula to get 10% of 150 –
10% = 10/100 × 150 = 15.
If you want to convert a percentage to a decimal, simply divide by 100. For example, 25% = 25/100 = 0.25.

What is 20% of 100?
You can find your answer by using the percentage formula to find 20 percent of 100; As -
20 % = 20 / 100 x 100 = 20

What is 5% of 500?
If you get a discount of 5% on the purchase of an item which is Rs.500, then you can find out the savings on the purchase of Rs.500 by applying the percentage formula. As -
5 / 100 x 500 = Rs.25

EXAMPLE :-

If the total marks and the child's marks are known, then how to calculate the percentage of his marks?

Let us assume that the total number of digits is 600. And the child has got 420 marks. Now to calculate the percentage of marks you have –
multiply 420 by 100;
which resulted in 42,000
Now divide 42,000 by the total marks i.e. 600.
which will result in 70
That is, the child has obtained a total of 70 percent marks.
